Double Header Weekend


Newcastle Maitland Club had a busy weekend with the running of the Jody Moore Memorial on Saturday at Newcastle and backed it up with a Gala Day at Cessnock on Sunday.

Jody Moore Memorial was contested with two heat and the fastest qualifiers taking place in the Final.

The pocket rocket Smokey Bear was successful in the final for Ashton Wiggins defeating big brother Harrison on Captain Oats with Team Cassar driver Brody bringing Get Em Jet home for third.

Consolation was taken out Harrison Wiggins with a bold front running display on Flying Dot proving too strong for Yourkiddinme (Rowan Wiggins} with Tamworth visitor Yousnoozeyoulose running a nice race to finish third for promising reinsman Jack Chapple.

Earlier heats where taken out by Mr Rocket Fuel showing a return to form for Rylee Kiddle while That’s Oro was successful first up for Holly Bigeni after taking over control from Qld gun Angus Garrard in the other heat.

Attention Sunday was at Cessnock Gala Day. A fantastic rollup for a fun day.

Three new horses and two drivers performed well under qualifying conditions. Welcome to Lucy Morrison and Baley Miles to our driving ranks. Day was rounded out with foot gig races. Good luck to all those invited to compete at Tab Corp Fishers Ghost meeting next Sunday.
